In Loving Memory
Drs. Daniel & Melanie Gramzow
Gramzow Chiropractic was created out of love and with a sense of responsibility by two amazing doctors: Daniel C. Gramzow and Melanie L. Gramzow. The clinic was born from the mission to serve others, and to bring health and vitality to a beloved community.
Dr. Daniel C. Gramzow was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan in 1943. He attended Ferris State University, the first of his family to attend college. Originally, Dr. Daniel planned to pursue a career in chemical engineering; however, after a local chiropractor was able to relieve his chronic and severe migraines, he opted to change his major to Chiropractic, enrolling at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa to pursue his doctorate degree.
As fate would have it, that is where Dr. Daniel met his wife, Melanie. Melanie Louise Bompiani was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, the second oldest of seven children. Like Daniel, Melanie was the first of her family to attend college. They both earned their doctorate degrees in 1966 at Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Dr. Daniel put his career on hold to serve his country as a SP5 Sergeant Fifth Class in Preventive Medicine during the Vietnam War. Melanie L. Gramzow, meanwhile, worked alongside her father as a Chiropractor at Lou's Health Center in Pennsylvania. They married after his return and purchased Chiropractic Family Clinic together in 1970 and eventually had four wonderful daughters: Amy, Kirsten, Gina and Alicia.
Dr. Melanie and Dr. Daniel were both deeply devoted and passionate about their clinic. For over 37 years, Dr. Daniel C. Gramzow served his patients with the utmost care, following the true principles of chiropractic. Dr. Melanie would always play a central role in the practice as well, serving in various capacities throughout her life. Dr. Dan also eventually mentored his oldest daughter, Amy, who joined the practice in April of 1995. Father and daughter were able to work closely together for over a decade.
Sadly, in 2007, Dr. Daniel C. Gramzow passed away after fighting a difficult battle with brain cancer. He was a devoted family man and was truly dedicated to helping others. Dr. Gramzow was passionate about his work and the principles of chiropractic, and deeply committed to each of his patients. Dr. Melanie Gramzow continued to help Dr. Amy D. Gramzow in their practice until her own passing in October 2016. Her warm, smiling presence at the front desk and generous heart was felt and appreciated by all.
Doctors Daniel and Melanie are profoundly missed by all of those that knew them, but their presence lives on in the office. Dr. Amy Danielle Gramzow could not have asked for better role models and parents, and continues to honor their legacy every day at Gramzow Chiropractic & Wellness.
